I am pleased to take part in the Humanities 101 (Hum) program at UBC. Hum is a course in the humanities, geared towards the public, especially those living in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.

I will be teaching a one-off lecture on the philosophy of artificial intelligence. Topics include: Can a machine really think? Can AI be conscious? Can AI be creative, artistic, or worthy or praise?
